Easy to order. Nice bouquet, but not entirely like the photo offer. Delivered in good order, but ignored the delivery time I specified without telling me, despite the warning that I should be available to accept delivery of fragile flowers. Thus, mixed/mostly good experience. ---- Florist's Response: Thank you, David, for addressing some issues in your review of the Crimson Petal today. I’d like to take a few moments to address your concerns. You are correct, the actual delivered arrangement was not 'entirely like the photo offer' as you said. It was, in my opinion, better. Before sharing why I think it was better I’d like you to read the contents of our Substitution Policy below. This passage prominently featured beneath the photo of each and every arrangement offered on our website. And not because we want to mislead our customers. I would have no motive to show a photo online and deliver something wholly different. But, practically speaking, it is impossible to carry all of the flowers for 125 website arrangements, all of the time. If we absolutely can not duplicate an arrangement chosen from our website or even come close, then I will contact the customer with the option to choose something else. I review the website almost every night to make sure I keep a fully stocked cooler to make the items featured. I will delete items online if I know we’ve sold out of things, and vice verse. We do a pretty good job with that, and it takes a lot of time and effort. What you reference as being 'not entirely like the photo' is what I see as our attempt to create the look and feel of an arrangement in spite of the fact that we may be missing several flowers pictured. My company policy is to use equal or better value flowers if substitution is necessary. I think it is infeasible to expect exact replicas, and the beauty of art in my opinion is for the designer to know his/her flowers well enough so that he/she can achieve the same or better outcome with comparable blooms that are seasonally available. For instance, we were not able to source burgundy Amaranthus on Friday, so I substituted with a lovely mauve Celosia, a premium flower with a similar and unique impact on the arrangement. I did not have variegated ruby red/white dahlia, so I provided lovely, fresh white dahlia. I also chose to use fine beautiful pale pink/white dendrobium orchids not to substitute anything, but to add beauty and style to the arrangement. I had just purchased them and thought they'd be lovely in your anniversary gift, so I used them. The items I subbed in made the arrangement better in my opinion. And one more thing, I did not ignore your delivery time request. Like most busy florists, we do not guarantee delivery times. Instead, we do the best we can to fulfill special requests unless of course needed for a special event. Some florists charge an extra fee nowadays for timed delivery, usually $10, but I have chosen not to do this and have found most customers very flexible. Please remember, finding reliable help is a great challenge. After lengthy searches, we have finally found two drivers who are excellent, both of them arriving at noon and delivering until about 4 pm each day. Since you ordered for 11 a.m. we were unable to fulfill your request. I have decided to do as many of my fellow florists do and let customers know that timed deliveries are generally unavailable, and if one is required, a phone call to me is recommended. I wish I did not have to spend time explaining all the nuances of my business. After 15 years, it is clear we are great at what we do. However, perfection in life is not realistic in my opinion. We can aim for perfection, but now and again, small glitches occur or differences of opinion may arise. In the end, please know that we appreciate each and every customer.
